Maintenance/Cleaning

Solar system maintenance is not a complex process that you’d have to be too worried about. It’s still a good idea to ensure that you get help from the right people. Especially to make sure that you don’t accidentally do a bit more harm than good to the system when trying to clean it. Although, that’s actually hard to do. Remember that panels for example, are built to be able to withstand harsh weather. A bit of water is going to be something they can handle without any trouble.

How Often Do Solar Panels Need to be Cleaned?

Most people in the industry are going to say that it’s a good idea to clean panels at least twice a year. That’s a decent estimate, for sure. The only problem is that not all of the panels, at least that we install, are going through the same wear and tear process. Panels in homes that have a lot of trees may be hit by more debris. One day, you look up in the fall, and the panels are filled with dirt or leaves. If that sounds like a situation you may find yourself in, then you may need to clean your panels more frequently.

What’s The Best Way to Clean Solar Panels?

Water and a sponge to be able to gently scrape off some of the debris that may be on the panels is the best way for a quick cleaning service. Obviously, the best thing that you can do is give us a call or contact us when you’re dealing with an issue. Let’s say that overnight, there was a ton of wind that kicked up dirt onto the panels. The water and sponge method would be the best way to provide a quick fix for the situation.

Best Way to Spot a Potential Issue

What many people still struggle with when they’re new to the solar power experience is figuring out when they may have a problem within the system. There are situations that are going to be obvious. If you’re constantly losing power and the homes around you are fine, that’s a clear sign that there’s a problem. Most of the other issues, though, are seen when the bill comes in. If you’re paying too much for your bill it could mean that there’s an issue with the amount of sunlight that the panels are harvesting. In the winter months, the bill can still see some upticks, but they shouldn’t be major.

Emergency Situations

When you’re having a power outage and all of the rest of the homes in the area seem fine, be sure to give us a call or contact us to report the situation. That could be an issue with the solar power system or maybe there’s some sort of a problem with your connection to the grid. It’s important to point out that these are not common issues that take place. If they happen though, be sure to give us a call so that we can fix the situation.
